Following the events of Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers destroys the Supreme Intelligence, which subsequently led to a civil war among the Kree species in their homeworld Hala. The planet becomes barren as it loses its air and water, with its sun dying as well. In the present day, Dar-Benn, the new leader of the Kree, succeeds in finding one half of the Quantum Bands, of which Kamala Khan has the other half. Dar-Benn harnesses the power of the Band and pairs it with her staff, named the Universal Weapon, to tear apart a jump point in a space. The resulting anomaly would later be discovered by the organization S.W.O.R.D. Nick Fury, now on the space station S.A.B.E.R., hosts the peace talks between the Kree and the Skrulls. He calls in Carol and Monica Rambeau to investigate the jump point anomaly near S.A.B.E.R. When Monica touches the jump point, she, Carol, and Kamala switch places through teleportation. The switching causes the three to fight each others' Kree enemies, leaving the Khans' house destroyed in their wake. As the three women return to their original places, Fury and Monica visit Kamala on Earth. When Kamala demonstrates her powers, she switches places with Carol. When Carol flies away, she switches places with Kamala in mid-air. The group surmises that the light-based powers of Carol, Monica, and Kamala are linked through quantum entanglement, and that they switch places when any of the three use their powers.
